Embers of Neglect

In the relentless grasp of a heatwave's embrace,
The Earth, once verdant, now gasps for breath,
Its skin parched, cracked like the desert's floor,
As humanity's insatiable thirst for progress
Sears the delicate tapestry of life.

Animals, once agile and free,
Now stumble through arid landscapes,
Seeking solace amidst scorched ruins,
Their cries, faint whispers lost in the wind,
Unheard by those consumed by blind ambition.

We, the architects of this unfolding tragedy,
Forge our path with callous disregard,
Plundering resources without remorse,
Blinded to the web of existence we share.

The sun, a merciless deity in the sky,
Casts its fiery gaze upon a wounded realm,
Melting ice caps, drowning shores in sorrow,
As ecosystems falter, balance teetering,
And fragile species fade into oblivion.

Yet, in this symphony of devastation,
A plea reverberates through the burning air,
Nature's voice, a desperate cry for redemption,
Beckoning us to pause, to reflect, to change.

For the Earth, our cradle and our kin,
Yearns for healing, for respite from the blaze,
In our hands lies the power to mend and restore,
To cool the fevered Earth, and let life flourish once more.
